On September 14, Asian Connect Denver hosted a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival to celebrate the harvest moon and deepen community bonds. The evening was brimming with lanterns, mooncakes, storytelling, crafts, and time-honored traditionsâbringing together seniors, youth, families, and friends to honor heritage and enjoy one anotherâs company.
What We Did:
Mooncake tasting: Guests sampled traditional mooncakes (lotus, red bean, and others), learning about their symbolism of unity and gratitude
Cultural performances: Seniors showcased Chinese dances, music, and poetry tied to Mid-Autumn themes
Storytelling & mythology: Elders shared the legend of Changâe, the Moon Goddess, connecting generations to cultural roots
âThe full moon symbolizes togetherness â tonight we gather to honor where we come from and share light for the year ahead.ââ Asian Connect Denver Storytelling Circle
